Though, I can see a great amount of potential for the author. I can’t remember how I came to purchase this book, whether it was on a recommendation from a friend or not, because based on the blurb it doesn’t have much appeal to me. Many elements were so well done, and then others fell way short of the mark leaving the book looking a little amateur. ‘ The Decisions We Make’ was a mixed bag for me. Through Jamie being a victim of hate crime to coming out to family and friends, there are many decisions the boys have to make before they become men. This story is the journey of Daniel and Jamie finding their place in the world. The product of a lonely childhood, he is thrown into the chaos of the Walker family and into the life of his new foster brother Jamie. A bit of a bipolar read for me… great writing but poor story development.ĭaniel Keyes is an orphan, fostered by the Walkers.
